ABOUT AREA 62

It's there if you know where to look.  Honest.  Behind an unmarked door, in a third of an abandoned contractor's trailer, on the campus of the smallest community college in California, out in the Mojave Desert, lies the beating heart of Area 62, the podcast of the culture of Joshua Tree and the hi-desert – and beyond.

Copper Mountain College's modest Media Studio is the base of operations for Area 62, as well as the college's weekly radio show, and its award-winning Cacti Chronicles newspaper.  Area 62 is produced, hosted, and edited (usually) by the students of Copper Mountain College.  We hope you enjoy your visits to Area 62!

Area 62

A little about us

The desert's a unique and vibrant place, filled with a diverse range of incredibly talented and fascinating folks, breathtaking natural beauty, wild tales and adventures, great culture, challenging issues, and everything we needed to launch this podcast to help bring these stories to you.

Area 62 is produced by the Public Relations department of Copper Mountain College, in Joshua Tree, California, and the student hosts, producers, and editors from CMC.

A little about Copper Mountain College

Copper Mountain College is located in rural Joshua Tree, California, on a 160-acre campus (half of it's a desert tortoise preserve), out in the Mojave Desert.  CMC is one of the smallest of California's 116 community colleges, home to the Fighting Cacti!

From this small college in the Mojave Desert, a fun look at my favorite place to be - Joshua Tree. So many characters including JRod. I'm a fan.
